Electro-Mechanical Technician

Your role in our team:

  • Perform preventative maintenance and unplanned electrical and mechanical repairs
  • Electrically and mechanically maintain, troubleshoot, and repair automated equipment
  • Perform planned maintenance on automated cranes, conveyors, and specialty equipment
  • Proficiency in using basic hand and power tools to perform repairs
  • Complete electrical and mechanical root cause analysis, fault finding and diagnosis, as well as recovery and resolution
  • Analysis of component failures and single point of failure prevention and recurrences using system information
  • Establish and improve inspection methods and component or process improvements through continues improvement program
  • Read and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings
  • Responsible for system performance monitoring and operational status
  • Collaborate with other technicians on mechanical and electrical problems
  • Use Witron’s Computerized Management System for shift cross overs, tracking parts, and completing work orders
  • Understand and follow site specific protocols and escalation procedures
  • Perform maintenance as per structured maintenance schedule
  • Document and complete planned repairs and maintenance activities
  • Inspect, repair, and replace electrical and mechanical wear and spare parts inclusive of all set-ups and calibrations
  • Perform maintenance related cleaning of equipment and provide support to equipment operators
  • Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Ideal candidate profile:

  • 2-3 year degree or diploma in Electromechanical Engineering technology or equivalent OR Red seal endorsement in Electrical 442A/ 309A / 5th year Industrial Electrician apprentice OR Red Seal endorsement in Industrial Millwright or final year Industrial Millwright apprentice
  • Training or certification in PLC programming and troubleshooting
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in an industrial automation environment or manufacturing with both mechanical, electrical, and controls troubleshooting and repair including motors, gearboxes, chains, bearings, shafts, sprockets, gears, belts, etc.
  • Rigging and hoisting experience of loads up to 1 ton
  • Experienced and comfortable working with AC voltages up to 480V and controls voltage of 24V
  • Familiar and adaptability to the 5S system
  • Welding experience considered an asset
  • Physically able to lift 25kg, climb ladders and cranes, work at heights exceeding 30 meters, work in conditions of +5C to -28C, with proper training and personal protective equipment (PPE) provided
  • Flexibility in working hours between days, afternoons, and nights (including weekends)
  • Excellent computer literacy including MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and willingness to take on new challenges and tasks
  • Comfortable working in fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • Must be meticulous and able to work independently and safely
  • Willingness to travel to other sites for training
