National Technical Writer
Your role in our team
As the National Technical Writer on our National Training Team, through accurate and standardized documentation, you will ensure technical knowledge is clearly communicated across the organization. you will help streamline operations, reduce misunderstandings, and provide employees with the information they need to succeed.
Ideal candidate profile
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience in technical writing, preferably for national or large-scale documentation
- Familiarity with equipment operation, industrial maintenance, and electricity
- Knowledge of the food distribution industry and HACCP food safety principles
- Familiarity with ISO standards
Skills/Experience Required:
- Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail
- Ability to simplify complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly content.
- Proficiency with document management systems (DMS) and documentation tools (e.g., MS Office suite)
- Understanding of industrial health & safety regulations
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional team collaboration
- Language proficiency with French and English is required
Key Responsibilities:
- Write, edit, and format national documents including safety procedures, troubleshooting guides, Preventive Maintenance (PM) forms, operational instructions, forms, and training materials specific to industrial maintenance and operations.
- Work closely with continuous improvement, maintenance, operations, health and safety, and any relevant teams to gather technical information and ensure the accuracy and clarity of all documentation.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to document complex automated systems, repair processes, and operational methods.
- Oversee the organization and maintenance of a national repository for all technical documentation, ensuring that it remains up-to-date, accessible, and user-friendly.
- Standardize documentation templates, formats, and naming conventions to ensure consistency and ease of use across various operational sites.
- Research industrial maintenance trends, equipment advancements, and new operational methodologies to ensure that the documentation remains current and relevant.
- Analyze feedback from field technicians, and operators, as well as equipment performance data, to identify documentation gaps or areas for improvement.
- Ensure all technical documents comply with industry standards, safety guidelines, and company policies.
- Regularly review and update documents to reflect changes in procedures, equipment, or regulations.
- Develop training content and guide internal teams on how to use technical documents effectively.
- Provide documentation support for national projects to improve safety and technical accuracy.
