Summer Trainee
WITRON is one of the world’s leading suppliers of automated material flow and logistics systems. Our family-owned company has its roots in Bavaria, Germany, and for over 50 years we have been known for our innovative technology. Today, more than 7,500 WITRON employees work worldwide, from Europe to North America and Australia.
In Finland, we are responsible for the automation of S Group’s grocery and non-food logistics centers located in Bastukärr, Sipoo. Our Finnish OnSite team already consists of nearly 150 technical professionals – and now we are looking for several summer employees to join our maintenance team for the upcoming summer!
As a Summer Trainee, you will be part of our reactive maintenance organization. Your work ensures that production runs smoothly and goods move to the right place, at the right time.
Your tasks will include, among others:
- maintenance, servicing and repair of automation equipment
- fault diagnostics and troubleshooting
- preventive maintenance and condition monitoring of equipment
- reporting completed tasks in the maintenance management system
Typical maintenance items include conveyors, various elevators and mechanical components related to storage systems.
We offer you an interesting and hands-on summer job working with modern automation technology, as well as an excellent opportunity to develop your technical skills and professional competence.
You will receive a comprehensive onboarding: you will not be left on your own, but will be carefully guided into your tasks and WITRON technology during our multi-week basic training period.
Our salary is based on the Collective Agreement of the Technology Industries of Finland, and in three-shift work, shift and Sunday allowances provide an additional extra on top of your basic monthly salary. Our employee benefits include ePassi benefits for sports, culture and well-being, comprehensive occupational health care services, and leisure-time accident insurance.
You are the Summer Trainee we are looking for if you are comfortable using tools and have basic technical skills gained through studies, previous work experience, or technical hobbies. You may be studying automation engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical or production engineering, or maintenance, but for us, an enthusiastic and eager-to-learn attitude is more important than formal certificates.
To work in a fully automated logistics center, we have a few basic requirements:
- Willingness to work shifts: the site operates 24/7, and work is carried out in a continuous three-shift cycle, working six consecutive days (two morning shifts 6 a.m.–2 p.m., two evening shifts 2 p.m.–10 p.m., two night shifts 10 p.m.–6 a.m.), followed by four well-earned days off.
- Comfort with working at heights and in varying temperatures: the grocery logistics center is automated from floor to ceiling, and maintenance work is carried out at different height levels – sometimes climbing with safety harnesses up to 24 meters. Therefore, this position is not suitable for those with a fear of heights. The facility handles dry goods, fruits and vegetables, fresh products and frozen goods, meaning work temperatures range from +22°C down to –24°C.
- English language skills: our team is international, so we expect you to be able to communicate also in English.
- Age requirement: you must be at least 18 years old.
Our summer job application period is open until March 8. Most Summer Trainees start in May, but the starting date can be flexibly agreed already earlier in the spring or in June.
