Health & Safety Specialist
he Health and Safety Specialist serves as the primary coordinator for the WITRON teams on US Project sites on all matters of health and safety. Coordinating with the Building General Contractor, Construction Supervisor, Project Managers, and Installation Teams, a successful Health and Safety Specialist will work with our internal and external partners to ensure the adherence of the project to the necessary health and safety requirements.
Salary Range: $70,000-$100,000k
This role requires frequent travel up to 90% to project sites in the United States
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Participate in construction meetings between the customer, Building GC and WITRON personnel.
- Implement policies and procedures regarding safe working methods, inspection standards and emergency procedures.
- Perform audits of construction zones and high risk work for WITRON and WITRON sub-contractors to ensure all standards are met and maintained.
- Organize and maintain all training and program documents including but not limited to on site training, auditing, and permitting.
- Participate in construction meetings between the customer, Building GC and WITRON personnel.
- Assist with management of sub-contractors to verify equipment, training, and site access.
- Develop and maintain the relationship with the client while ensuring all requirements of client contract are being met
- Abide by and is responsible for performing all duties in accordance with health and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of project management, construction and/or industrial automation
- Knowledge of OH&S Rules and Regulations, workplace compliance safety and construction safety
- Experience working with a General Contractor and Sub-Contractors (preferably on a large project)
- Sound judgement, strong leadership skills and the ability to work independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Project
- Ability to work at heights and with heavy machinery
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience working in health & safety, construction management or a related field.
- Associates or bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Environmental Science or Engineering preferred, High School Diploma or equivalent is required
Physical Requirements:
- Availability to travel frequently to various locations in the United States
- Continuous walking, climbing and standing
- Lifting, pulling and pushing up to 100 pounds
